Sonatotyping is an effective way of classifying people based on their overall body shape.
"There are 3 basic body types:"
"ECTOMORPH" - refers to the relative linearity of the body.
Long, lanky and lean are good words to describe it. The body so typical of many swimmers & runners. With a solid weight-training program, the ectomorph will make strength and improve definition, but packing on more bulk may be difficult.
"MESOMORPH" - refers to the relative muscular development per unit height of the body.
Square and solid, with broad shoulders and narrow hips are good words here. Most men with this body type tend to make more accelerated gains, increasing their strength and sizes relatively quickly.
"ENDOMORPH" - refers to the relative fatness of the body.
Burly or husky are good words to describe it. The type who tends to store more body fat than either of the other two. Their shape features rounder edges yet still maintains a strong and powerful nature. Endomorph's need to be careful, but they can make extraordinary physical gains with a proper diet and right workout program.
